Liturgy Coordinator

SJN is seeking a qualified candidate for this full-time, salaried position with benefits. Must have 3-5 years experience working in a parish liturgy environment and coordinating volunteers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Recruit, arrange training for, and support the liturgical ministry volunteers, including:
Lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (for Mass and to the Homebound), Altar Servers, Ushers, Greeters, Welcome Desk, Mass Coordinators, Holy Housekeepers, Linen, Arts & Environment Committee, and Baptismal Bib maintenance.
Manage the liturgical volunteer schedule using Rotunda’s Ministry Scheduler Pro.
Arrange for liturgical celebrations (weekly and special) to include:
• Christmas, Holy Week & Easter Triduum, and the All Soul’s Mass
• Coordinate with the Faith Formation department for special sacramental events during a liturgy, as well as Confirmation and First Reconciliation.
• Update parish’s electronic calendar with all liturgical celebrations.
Coordinate and act as primary liaison between the family, staff, funeral home, and volunteers for funerals:
• Maintain the parish columbarium database once the future columbarium project is completed.
• Update the parish’s sacramental death registry.
Organize and lead Monthly Liturgy Staff Meetings, comprised of clergy and staff, to implement and foster cohesive liturgical celebrations.
Coordinate and collaborate with the Music and Liturgy Administrator.
Order worship supplies, as needed.
Update and produce reports from the Parishioner Database, Liturgical Volunteer Scheduler (Ministry Scheduler Pro), and the Electronic Calendar of Events.
Maintain the Liturgy budget to include all liturgy-related publications, major and consumable worship items, maintenance of liturgical appointments, and liturgical environment costs.
Act as lead for Worship with the Director of Music in the Parish Four-Year Pastoral Plan, which includes formulating goals and implementing strategies to attain them.
Support the Parish Office staff, as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:


Three to five years of experience working in a parish liturgy setting and in coordinating volunteers.
A degree in theology, sacred music, or leadership is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong people skills – must be an energetic and pastoral individual who engages volunteers and can respond to the needs of the congregation with sensitivity.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Current in-depth knowledge of Catholic liturgy and liturgical music with respect to church documents and reforms of Vatican II.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a dynamic community.
Flexibility to occasionally work evenings and weekends, including availability to attend the weekend Masses on a rotating basis to oversee liturgical volunteers.
Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office programs: Outlook, Word, Excel, with experience in using Rotunda’s Ministry Scheduler Pro a plus.
