SJN Black History Month Celebration
On Friday, February 10, we held our SJN Black History Month celebration. Our keynote speaker was Bishop Roy E. Campbell, Jr., from the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. Bishop Campbell spoke about how he went from being a businessman to now a Bishop. The world-famous St. Augustine Gospel Choir provided musical selections, including a rousing rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” also known a the Black National Anthem. A reception followed the program.
Brother Mickey McGrath, OSFS, Visits SJN
On Tuesday, January 24, Br. Mickey McGrath, OSFS, visited SJN to give a talk on his new book “Madonnas of Color.” He spoke for over an hour and then signed books during a reception.
Reception for the Feast Day of St. Francis de Sales
SJN Pro-Life Prayer Service
On Friday, January 20, SJN held a prayer service for life. Many of the attendees then joined the 50th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., to bear witness to the importance of protecting life.
Monthly Prayer Vigil for Peace, Life, and Justice
Please join us on Saturday, February 4, for our monthly parish Prayer Vigil for Peace, Life, and Justice as we mark the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and pray for an end to the war there. We’ll pray the Scriptural Rosary for Justice and Peace, reflect on God’s Word in Scripture, and offer our intentions to our merciful Savior. Possible Construction of a Columbarium
After inquiries from many parishioners over the last several years and having discussed the possibility with the Parish Finance Council, we are looking at proposing to the Diocese a project to construct a columbarium on the property. A columbarium is a reverential storage for holding the urns of cremated remains of the deceased. We welcome any feedback from parishioners on the possibility of having a Columbaria here at SJN.
