Backpacks/School Supplies Donation
Each August, St. John Neumann community collects backpacks to be given to Cornerstones. The packs are then filled with school supplies by Kids R First and donated to local needy children. Birthday Club
Quarterly, the St. John Neumann community collects birthday gifts for the children at the Laurel Learning Center. There will be bulletin announcements and lector announcements when it is time to make birthday donations. The wished-for items are printed on tags and made available in the parish hallway. After taking printed tags it is asked that you purchase and wrap the specific item attach the tag and return to the parish hallway. Brown Bag Sunday
On the last full weekend of the month, the Cornerstones van will be in the parking lot to collect non-perishable food items. The food will be given to Cornerstones to distribute to the needy in our local area. Cornerstones food pantry is located in the Lake Anne area of Reston. Christmas Angel Project
The St. John Neumann parish community is asked to participate in this drive each Christmas season. Announcements regarding timing will appear in the bulletin and will also be made at weekend Masses. The gifts are given to the children of Laurel Learning Center to help with their celebration of Christmas. The wished-for items are written on angel tags that will be available in the hallway for pickup. The gifts are to be wrapped and returned to the hallway. Gifts for Kids
St. John Neumann parish community participates in another drive for area children at Christmas. Announcements regarding timing will appear in the bulletin and will also be made at weekend Masses. These gifts are given to eligible children through Cornerstones to help make their Christmas joyful. The wished-for items will be available in the parish hallway and items are to be returned unwrapped to the hallway. Thanksgiving Food Drive
St. John Neumann parish community collects food to supply 150 families with a Thanksgiving meal. The food is disbursed through Cornerstones who also determine eligibility. The information regarding timing and needed items will be listed in the bulletin in early November. It takes our entire community to donate food to enable us to accomplish this need.
