At the Easter vigil in the Holy Night this coming Saturday, nine Elect will gather with their families to celebrate their initiation into the Catholic Church. At the very core of the festival is their baptism as they receive new life in Christ in the waters of
the baptismal font. We will clothe each with a white robe signifying their new dignity, numbered in the company of the People of God. They will receive a lighted candle to indicate their call to walk as children of the light. They will then share in the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the Sacrament of Confirmation. Finally, in the celebration of the Eucharist, the newly baptized will reach the culminating point in their Christian initiation.

After months of preparation, they will come forward to share in the Table of the Lord. Their reception of the Body and Blood of Christ will strengthen the gifts they have received and immerse them in the life of our community.

Let us continue to pray that during these final days of preparation, their desire for Christ and his Church will fill their hearts, and they will know the love of God and the support of all of us.

I’ve been attending Saint John Neumann for years with my husband and kids. We’ve raised our children in the Catholic faith, and both have been through the Rooted program. I enjoy chatting with them about their faith and what they have learned. When COVID-19 started, I turned to God and decided to join RCIA for myself. I’ve always felt like I was missing the true meaning when attending mass, but since RCIA, I now have a full understanding and feel part of the community. I am so excited about my baptism and continuing on my faith journey.

On this journey of becoming a Catholic: I feel so light inside, as if a weight was lifted off me. I have put my troubles in the Lord’s hands, and He has accepted them so that I will have the peace I am seeking. EVERYTHING WAS DARK before I knew Jesus- no solace, no comfort. When everything was erased, it passed like a dark cloud, and everything was bright. All the darkness in my life was deposited into the hands of Jesus, and He has transformed it into brightness. What a comfort it is to feel this way. Thank you, Jesus.

He aprendido muchas cosas nuevas que no sabía antes.

Through this journey of RCIA, I didn’t know much at first. I have learned a lot of new things that I didn’t know before. It has been a great journey. I am grateful for all the support that I have had. As baptism is around the corner, it is the light of being washed away from our sins and that this is not the end but a beginning to my faith.

First of all I thank God for one more day that He gave us and for me it has been a very nice experience to know more of the Word of God and day by day I learn more new things. I am very happy for our baptism and I feel that it was a great decision to be baptized. It was a great privilege to be allowed to carry the oils and it is a great blessing and a great privilege to be allowed to carry the oils.

Thank God for allowing me to be part of his family as a baptized person. My best experience as a student of the RCIA program was sharing with our classmates and facilitator. Joy for taking another step in faith with the sacraments of our Holy Church.

For me to achieve my objective in Baptism and faith. Walking in faith strengthens us and unites us more to the glory that God has promised us. God’s blessing has come to us when I decided to join the way of faith and God.

Baptism is very important I did not know how it was and now I know. Second communion. I thank God, He that gives us wisdom.

I will tell you a little about my experience in the RCIA program and my faith journey towards baptism. I feel very grateful to God and to brother Ever who has given me the closure and I know he has helped me, it is worth mentioning that I was totally unaware of the word tinidad and its meaning. As for faith I consider that it has enriched my knowledge now competing better God has heard my prayers. It is to him that we must ask to increase our faith daily. Baptism is a sacrament, it is where we do not receive God’s grace, we become his children. It opens the door to the sacraments. It is a decision we must make every day.
